"Speech..." — Thoughts...Circe's telepathic speech.

He heard the screams, but he did not care. It was not a pressing matter to him as far as he was told... no actual damage or injury had even come of it. So the locals had panicked - When was that new? he scoffed and continued about his daily activities.

Those activities, which led him to trek through the Viride Forest on some ridiculous inter-court mission. Tor had been told to do it and so begrudgingly he did, with no an ounce of pleasure on his face. To be truthful, he looked downright miserable. When it's the last thing he wants to be carrying, the literal bag he was saddled with feels like it weighs a thousand pounds.

That was until he stumbled upon what looked like a bearded vulture... but it was far too big to be one. He stopped amid the clearing and curiously tilted his head at the creature that was - well, as big as he was. That along was a feat and when it expanded its wings in an indignant huff, it was so much larger. And very clearly not just a bird.

Do you wear nice shoes? was the curious thought in his head that startled Tor. Touch my wonderful flowers and I will soon find out! was the hiss afterwards, and the soldier's eyes narrowed.

Am I going insane? How can I hear it? was the first thing that passed through his head, and immediately the creature's head bolted upright. Feathers fluffed as she stared at the large (but equal in comparison) stallion ahead of her.

How can you understand me, and how can you speak? came the near-squawk that startled both of them. It startled Tor that he could hear her, startled him because how did she hear his thoughts in the first place... startled him because this creature was talking to him. Startled her that he was startled, as it obviously meant he heard her. Again.

For a long time, they both stood there and just stared at one another - almost daring the other to think something again, yet Tor was the first to do so. The only time I've heard of this type of... telepathy... between equine and beasts- but he was cut off abruptly.

BEAST! she trilled, feathers re-fluffing. You are as much a beast as I am! came the indignant words - thoughts? - in his mind, again.

He paused briefly again as if waiting to see if she would continue, and metaphorically cleared his throat. ... I've only heard about this between bonded creatures. Then silence from both of them.

Her feathers smoothed, and she peered curiously at him. Eyes flitted down to the dismembered legs dripping blood under her own taloned feet, and in one swift motion she yanked off the last horseshoe. Then it's settled! she chirped and peered back towards him. Guess you're stuck with me now - My name's Circe!

The deadpan look that settled across Torstein's face said nothing yet everything all at once. Oh, fuck me... he groaned.
